Swedavia website under pressure - Stockholm Arlanda and Bromma airports closed this morning - Skavsta airport open

Swedish airport company Swedavia website isn't working correctly under heavy pressure caused by traffic problems at Stockholm Arlanda and Bromma airports. Currently Swedavia.se is showing only a short notice: "There is limited air traffic to and from Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Bromma Stockholm Airport. We are currently experiencing heavy traffic on our website and you are placed in queue. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working hard so that you will have normal access to the website again soon."

At the moment Stockholm Arlanda Airport is closed for all traffic and Stockholm Bromma Airport traffic is very limited due to the heavy snowing in Stockholm area. Stockholm Skavsta airport that Ryanair and Wizzair use is open but there seems to be many delays.

Hicacked Vueling flight at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

The Dutch defence ministry earlier scrambled F-16 fighters to intercept the plane, which had apparently taken off from Malaga, tells BBC. Girona Airport buses are operated by Barcelona Buses (seemed to be rather big company) and they are normal rather new buses with air conditioning. Airport advices you to be at least 1,5 hours before your departure at the airport and bus time is 1 hour and 15 minutes. My advice is to take bus around 3 hours before your departure from Barcelona Nord Station to Girona Airport. If your schedule is thight I advice you to go earlier to the bus stations because usually there are more than one bus operating each scheduled time. When I travelled there were 3-4 buses on each scheduled time and first buses ledr before scheduled time when they were full. For example if buses are scheduled to leave at 2 pm they and there are enough travellers to fill one bus at 1.45 it's very likely that first buses will then.

Sverige Flyg is a small Swedish low fares airline. Sverige Flyg operates mainly operates domestic flights in Sweden but they also fly to Norway and Germany.

In Sweden Sverige Flyg flies to Ängelholm, Stockholm (Arlanda, Bromma and Nyköping-Skavsta airports), Göteborg (Landvetter and Säve airports), Helsingfors, Kalmar, Malmö, Mora, Ronneby, Sundsvall, Umeå, Visby and Växjö. If you are going to these cities it may be worth considering cheap flight by some other low fair airline to Stockholm and then domestic flight with Sverige Flyg to the final destination.

Internationally Sverige Flyg flies to Oslo (Torp airport), where they offer connection to Visby in Gotland Island, and to Berlin. Sverige Flyg flies between Växjö and Berlin. Växjö is a small city in southern Sweden.

Sverige Flyg doesn't fly to Copenhagen but if you are looking for cheap flights to Copenhagen it's also worth checking flights to Malmö in Sweden. Malmö and Copenhagen are connected by a bridge that is a tourist attraction in itself.

EasyJet cheap flights to Newcastle

Newcastle is a city in North East England. Newcastle is situated on north bank of River Tyne. Newcastle International Airport is located 9,3 km (5,8 mi) north-west of the city centre. Local authorities own 51% of the airport and remainin 49% is owned surprisingly by Copenhagen Airport.

There are many bus connections to the London Stansted Airport and Stansted Express Train that connects London City (Liverpool Station) and London Stansted Airport. London Stansted Airport is clearly Ryanair's home airport in London but also EasyJet flies to London Stansted. EasyJet cheap flights to London Southend

London Southend Airport is located in Essex in the district of Roxford. In the 1960's London Southend Airport was the third busiest airport in the UK. After that London Stansted Airport took much of the traffic and London Southend Airport lost many passangers. A new owner bought London Southend Airport 2008 and has invested in modernization of London Southend Airport. EasyJet started their flights from/to London Southend Airport in April 2012. Currently they fly to London Southend Airport from: Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast, Faro, Geneva, Ibiza, Jersey, Majorca, Malaga and Venice. It's possible that EasyJet will later open new routes to London Southend Airport.

EasyJet cheap flights to London Luton

London Luton Airport (previously called Luton International Airport) lies 56,5 km (35 mi) north from Central London. Luton Airport served as military airport in World War II. After the war airport returned to the local council. London Luton airport has been basis for charter flights and later low fares airlines have started to use London Luton Airport. For example Hungarian Wizzair flies many flights to London Luton. EasyJet also has rather long list of flight connections from London Luton.

As you can see EasyJet list of connections from/to London Gatwick is impressive. London Gatwick is without doubt the most important hub for EasyJet. Gibraltar is a British overseas territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula. Gibraltar has an area of only 6.8 square kilometres and its only border (northern border) with Spain.

Gibraltar Airport (also called North Front Airport) is very exceptional in many ways. Also civilian airport is owned by the Ministry of Defence and Royal Air Force uses same airport. Gibraltar Airport has a very central location and there is walking distance to the airport from the center. Norwegian Air Shuttle is a low fares airline with strong market position in Scandinavia. In Central Europe they market themselves as gateway to Scandinavia. Norwegian flies from many european metropoles to scandinavian capitals. Norwegian Air Shuttle is definetely a low fares airline but not as much oriented on cost savings as for example Ryanair. Major low cost carriers in Europe - Who offers the cheapest flights in Europe?

ELFAA is European Low Fares Airline Association and its mission is "To ensure that European policy and legislation promote free and equal competition to enable the continued growth and development of low fares into the future, allowing a greater number of people to travel by air.". ELFAA has nine member airlines and they collectively carry 190 million passangers every year. According to the ELFAAs statistics low fares airlines currently account for over 43% of scheduled intra-European traffic.

Latvian Air Baltic, Irish Aer Lingus and many other airlines can also be classified somewhere between traditional airlines and low fares airlines. I my blog I will cover all airlines that offer so cheap flights that I will find them worth writing.

In media Ryanair is very often the low cost carrier that is mentioned as the most agressive in cutting their costs and offering the cheapest flights. That is very often true. Ryanair clearly is positioned itself as a very pure low fares airline.

When I have searched for the cheapest flights in Europe I have found that very often Ryanair and Wizzair are the companies that use the most agressive pricing. Sometimes they offer very cheap flights to fill airplanes but they also know when to set prices high. During peak seasons such as Eastern, Christmas and European summer holidays they can be surprisingly expensive.

Where to find the cheapest flights in Europe?
If you would ask me where to find the cheapest flights in Europe I would give you an advice to look at the routes outside top 10 cities in Europe. There are many routes where you can find cheap flights like 19,99€ but the cheapest are very often the flights between smaller cities. For example my cheapest flight has been 0,99€ flight from Turku (Finland) to Gdansk (Poland). This was Wizzair flight.
