Brussels Charleroi - From Charleroi airport to the Brussels city

Brussels Charleroi airport (sometimes called Brussels South airport) is located appr. 55km south to the Brussels city center. Here are some facts about the Charleroi shuttle bus to the Brussels City.

Brussels Shuttle bus stop at Charleroi airport
When you arrive at Charleroi airport and walk out of the doors after customs office you come to the arrivals terminal turn right and go out using exit number 4. Brussels shuttle buses stop in front of the Charleroi airport arrival exit number 4. You can buy your Brussels shuttle bus ticket either from the machine or at service desk. One way Charleroi-Brussels city shuttle bus costs 13€ and two-way ticket 22€. For two-way ticket you have to know your return time and it will be marked to the return ticket.

Brussels Shuttle bus Charleroi-Brussels travel time
Scheduled time for Chareloi airport Brussels Gare du Midi -station travel is one hour but outside rush hours buses can be faster. When I have traveled to Brussels late evening buses have taken 45-50 minutes. Shuttle buses are rather new comfortable.

Where Charleroi shuttle buses arrive at Brussels city
Charleroi shuttle buses arrive at Gare du Midi railway station, which is southern side of Brussels center. If your hotel is around Grand Place or in the EU quarters it's possible to walk but it may not be convenient with heavy luggage. Buses both arrive and take new passengers to Charleroi in front of the Gare du Midi exit doors on western side of the railway station (Rue de France -street).

How much before departure bus to Charleroi?
Bus company operating Brussels Charleroi shuttle buses advice travelers to take shuttle bus from Brussels 3 hours before scheduled departure and based on my experience it's a good advice. During rush hours or if you have special baggage it may be worth going before it but in normal circumstances shuttle bus 3 hours before scheduled flight is very good and you still have some time at the airport.

Less cheap Helsinki-Oulu flights in Finland - Blue1 concentrates on Oulu-Stockholm and Oulu-Copenhagen flights

In Finland Helsinki-Oulu and Oulu-Helsinki flights are the most important domestic flights and this route has been operated by Finnair, Norwegian Air Shuttle and Blue1 (part of SAS Group). Price competition of Norwegian Air Shuttle has lowered the prices to 20€-40€/one way flight and today Blue1 told that they will stop operating Helsinki-Oulu and Oulu-Helsinki flights starting from October. Blue1 will concentrate on Oulu-Stockholm and Oulu-Copenhagen routes where they add more capacity.

Hicacked Vueling flight at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

The Dutch defence ministry earlier scrambled F-16 fighters to intercept the plane, which had apparently taken off from Malaga, tells BBC. According to the Reuters news agency, Dutch military police say security forces have now surrounded the plane with the passengers still on board. However a spokesperson for the Vueling airline told Reuters that the confusion is due to miscommunication between the pilot and the control tower. We hope that this is just a miscommunication and not a real hostage situation.

Low cost airlines airports - Barcelona Girona Airport - Costa Brava Airport

For cost savings reasons some low cost airlines prefer more distant airports that are cheaper for airlines. Especially Ryanair and Wizzair seem to prefer these cheaper and usually more distant airports while EasyJet, Norwegian Air Shuttle and some other low cost airlines prefer normal airports. Most well known of these low cost airports in Europe are London Stansted, Milan Bergamo, Frankfurt Hahn, Brussels Charleroi and Barcelona Gerona airports. Below you will find more details about the Barcelona Girona Airport. Actually locals call this airport Costa Brava airport but low fares airlines prefer Barcelona Girona because it's better in their marketing.

Distance between Girona Airport and Barcelona center

Barcelona Girona (or Gerona) airport is located in city of Girona (north from Barcelona). Distance between Barcelona and Girona airport is 91,5km. Google map says driving time is 1 hour and 1 minute. Airport bus schedules are based on 1 hour 15 minutes and when I have travelled this route bus took 1 hour 10 minutes in semi heavy traffic.

Girona Airport Barcelona bus prices

One way bus ticket costs 15€ and two way ticket 25€. Payment of Girona Airport buses is only cash. There is ATM at the Girona Aiport. Children who take own seat cost the same but smallest children without own seat are for free. I don't know actual age limit but 5 years old was full price and two years old for free when I travelled with my family.

Girona Airport buses - Air conditioning and other things about buses

Girona Airport buses are operated by Barcelona Buses (seemed to be rather big company) and they are normal rather new buses with air conditioning. Airport advices you to be at least 1,5 hours before your departure at the airport and bus time is 1 hour and 15 minutes. My advice is to take bus around 3 hours before your departure from Barcelona Nord Station to Girona Airport. If your schedule is thight I advice you to go earlier to the bus stations because usually there are more than one bus operating each scheduled time. When I travelled there were 3-4 buses on each scheduled time and first buses ledr before scheduled time when they were full. For example if buses are scheduled to leave at 2 pm they and there are enough travellers to fill one bus at 1.45 it's very likely that first buses will then.

Barcelona Girona Airport experiences - How to find Barcelona Buses at the Girona Airport

When you arrive at the Girona Airport you very soon realize that it's rather small airport. When you walk out of the arrival hall you will see buses on your right side. Parking hall, where also rental cars are, is just in front of you and on your left side there is road to Girona. It's very difficult to get lost there.

Where Girona Airport Bus goes in Barcelona

Girona Aiport Buses go to Barcelona North Bus Station. North Bus Station is located next to Arc de Triomf Metro station. If you don't have heavy luggage and you want to walk to the center, it's possible. Distance is 1,5 km and google map says that it takes 19 minutes to walk. When I visited Barcelona we walked that without any problems in appr. 20 minutes.
